The Cyber Atis project was launched in 2017 with the aim of promoting the safe use of the Internet and social networks among children and young people, as well as the assistance to their parents and teachers to better understand the potential dangers of social networks.
More and more widespread forms of cyber criminal activities such as identity theft, steeling private information, child pedophilia, cyber bullying, online violence and insulting are just some of the negative activities. As the frequency of active use of the Internet, digital devices and the frequency of risky behavior increases with age, the frequency of digital violence and the number of students involved in it are also increasing.
Students need to know what is considered to be digital violence, and that, like other forms of violence, will not be tolerated. It is necessary to systematically work with students and develop awareness of the negative consequences of digital media abuse. Information on the positive and negative aspects of using the Internet, potential risks and ways to safely use digital media should be made visible and accessible to all students (through compulsory curriculum), teachers and other school staff, but also to parents.
Considering the connection between digital violence and classical forms of school violence, undertaking systematic preventive measures to reduce the classical forms of peer violence would also contribute to the reduction of digital violence.
Throughout lectures, it is necessary to point to preventive measures that should be taken before digital violence occurs that could influence the further development of students.
The frequency of digital harassment problems (cyber bullying, false profiles, insulting, publishing of compromising materials, threats …) are also recorded on a daily basis, as well as many more serious offenses such as the reproduction or placement of pornographic material.
Protecting children and young people on the Internet is becoming a hot issue both at the global level and in Serbia! With new risks in the cyber world, children are often unable to face themselves. The emphasis must be on educating children and their parents!
FOR WHOM IT IS AIMED
The aim of the project is to promote the safe use of the Internet and social networks among children and young people, and in parallel, to help their parents and teachers to better understand the potential dangers of social networks.
Also, the goal is not to get parents and children scared but to help them to recognize the problem and how to solve it.
It is necessary to indicate through the project the preventive measures that should be taken before the digital violence occurs.
